Jort Navy Stripe
$999 USD
Long before American gangsters and the Mediterranean nobility donned chalk-stripe suits, the phenomenon was already fashionable in Mayfair, London. Prince Edward (1874-1972), the eldest son of King George V, was very fashion-conscious. A great advocate of the chalk stripe, he took it out of its London isolation and into the world. He was a man of small stature, but the thin vertical stripes made him look taller. Edward’s chalk stripes became his trademark and prominent people followed in his wake, for example Fred Astaire and Cary Grant. The Colombo weaving mill made a fully-lined variation for the JORT Collection, in a mix of 96% wool and 4% silk.

Fit - Jort

The Jort is among our most dynamic of fits. Constructed with a full floating canvas, this half-lined fit is tailored slim with a narrow pleated shoulder, hand-stitched collar, and features accompanying trousers with side adjusters, suspender buttons and button fly.

natural, pleated shoulder

This intricate, natural shoulder is pleated, and stitched by hand. The result is a delicately structured finish that exudes expert craftsmanship—for connoisseurs, a pleat is recognized as a sign of traditional Italian tailoring.

Peak lapel

Traditionally found in eveningwear and double-breasted suits, the peak lapel has made comeback as a staple of modern suiting, thanks the slimming and heightening effect it provides. Our standard peak lapels provide a sharp, masculine finish that seamlessly blends the timeless and the modern.

6-on-2 Double-Breasted

An old-school classic making a comeback as a modern statement piece, 6-on-2 double-breasted jackets feature 6 buttons, only 2 of which are functional. Always unbuttoned while sitting, this fit is almost always button while standing. We recommend fastening only the upper “anchor button”, as leaving the bottom undone improves the drape while granting a nice masculine figure.

Patch pocket

A sportier style usually found on more informal styles like linen summer suits and structured tweeds, patch pockets are a single piece of lined, matching fabric sewn to the outside of the jacket to make an open-mouth pocket.
